Alexander House Summer Fayre Raises £322.20 for Exeter Hospiscare

Residents at Alexander House Care Home in Exeter have helped raise £322.20 for Hospiscare through a community Summer Fayre, with the donation presented in person during a special cheque handover.

Alexander House, on Hawkins Road in Pinhoe, Exeter, hosted its Summer Fayre in August, welcoming residents, relatives, friends, staff and members of the local community for an afternoon of stalls, food, games and entertainment. The event was organised by the home's Activities Team, who wanted to create an enjoyable day for residents while raising money for a cause close to the local community.

This year, the home chose to support Hospiscare, which is now entirely reliant on donations to continue its services. Visitors browsed stalls, enjoyed food and refreshments, and took part in games, with residents getting involved throughout the afternoon. Their generosity helped the home reach a fundraising total of £322.20.

Following the event, Hospiscare representatives visited to present the donation in person, handing over a large ceremonial cheque as residents proudly took part.

Christine Collett, Home Manager at Alexander House, said the team were incredibly proud of everyone who helped make the Summer Fayre a success, adding that it was wonderful for residents to see money they had helped raise going directly to such an important local service.

The Activities Team described the afternoon as lovely, saying the stalls, food and games created a welcoming atmosphere, and everyone was delighted with the final total.

The event reflects Alexander House's wider commitment to keeping residents connected with their local community through regular activities and events.
