Defining Dementia Care

Dementia is a condition that affects people in a number of different ways, but most commonly affects a person’s speech and memory. We have witnessed those with dementia thrive with the right care and support. Here at Alexander House Care Home, we appreciate that no two individuals experiencing dementia are alike, and care and support must be customised to meet their needs.

Supporting people living with dementia encompasses personal care, daily living tasks, and medical care to support overall health, happiness, and wellbeing. With all of our care types, we encourage independence and social activities to provide residents with opportunities to build relationships and live an active lifestyle.

Dementia Care Inclusives

We’re here to give each and every resident with the opportunity to continue living life in the way that they want to. Caring for people as a whole, including mental and physical health, requires our staff to deliver a number of services and present a wide range of facilities. The below services are available though some treatments may incur additional costs.

GP Appointments

Each resident will continue to have access to their GP and appointments can be arranged and attended either alone or accompanied by a carer. Appointments will be made as regularly as needed.

Dental Care

Access to a dentist for both routine and ad-hoc appointments is available. Visits to the Dentist can be arranged as frequently as required, and appointments can be attended alone or with a carer.

Access to Opticians

Those with vision-related concerns can have these addressed by an Optician as part of their living expenses. Glass prescriptions and related costs are, however, not included and will incur an additional fee.

Chiropody

Alexander House Care Home is happy to arrange appointments for a Chiropodist to assess any foot-related issues.

Physiotherapy

Physiotherapy sessions can be accessed via GP referral or booked privately. Physiotherapy can bring an abundance of benefits to those who receive the treatment.
