residents getting a visit from alpacas

A Special Visit From Some Furry Friends

This month, we received a special visit from some alpacas in our local area. Loved ones of our residents were invited into the home to join us and meet the alpacas and it was a huge success, everybody had the best experience!

At Alexander Care Home in Exeter, the well-being of our residents is our highest priority. We offer a full activities programme with a variety of stimulating activities that residents can choose to take part in whenever they wish. We take into account their unique hobbies and interests and make sure there is something for everybody.

The alpacas explored almost all of our home during their visit. They even went into some of the bedrooms of our dementia residents! The sun was shining which meant they could enjoy a short stroll around the garden with some of our residents too.

There are numerous benefits to offering pet therapy within our care home such as reduced loneliness, cognitive stimulation, improved physical health and alleviation of stress.

Meeting different animals is a huge favourite among our residents, and allows them to share individual stories of their childhood pets, which we love to hear. We look forward to arranging more animal visits in the future and are thrilled that those closest to our residents can experience this alongside us.
