Dementia Care

Alexander House is a purpose-built care home in the Pinhoe community that proudly delivers dedicated Dementia Care in Exeter alongside a range of other care and support services for older people including Residential Care, Nursing Care, and Respite Care.

Our environment has been thoughtfully designed for those needing a bit more support and prompting and would benefit from additional facilities such as our sensory room, themed train carriage, quiet lounges, and an all-weather balcony.

Our wonderful and experienced staff are dedicated to supporting people who live with dementia and their loved ones. We strive to provide both 1:1 and group activities and therapies that are suited to their unique requirements and make sure that all care requirements are met to a high standard. We promote overall wellbeing through positive and enjoyable experiences for all.

Defining Dementia Care

Dementia is a condition that affects people in a number of different ways, but most commonly affects a person’s speech and memory. We have witnessed those with dementia thrive with the right care and support. Here at Alexander House Care Home, we appreciate that no two individuals experiencing dementia are alike, and care and support must be customised to meet their needs.

Supporting people living with dementia encompasses personal care, daily living tasks, and medical care to support overall health, happiness, and wellbeing. With all of our care types, we encourage independence and social activities to provide residents with opportunities to build relationships and live an active lifestyle.

Providing Dementia Care in Exeter

The environment that we have designed for our dementia community is light and airy with plenty of room to walk about. We also go above and beyond to ensure a warm, home-from-home feeling where residents feel confident, happy, and supported in retaining as much independence as possible. Free from the worries of daily tasks, those receiving dementia care are able to focus on how they wish to spend their day.

We have a dedicated team of highly skilled professionals and carers who know the support needed to enhance the lives of each and every resident living with us. To further support our residents living with dementia, we provide printed, visual menus to help at mealtimes and snacks are available throughout the day to assist with nutrition and hydration.
