Community Voices Choir Spread Christmas Cheer

Community choir at Alexander House

Christmas is a great opportunity to bring people together, at Alexander House Care Home in Pinhoe, we're always looking for opportunities to involve the community in what we do. What better than a festive sing-a-long to help our residents get into the Christmas spirit.

We welcomed the local community voices choir of Pinhoe into our home reception area, where residents and their families were joined by locals for an evening of singing, with a variety of traditional and new Christmas carols. This was a great opportunity for residents to reminisce and spread some good old Christmas cheer.

Community spirit is so important at Alexander House, as it gives our staff and residents an opportunity to communicate and build relationships with people within the Pinhoe Community.

The Importance Of Music In Care

The purpose of this planned activity was to provide entertainment and support the overall wellbeing of residents, as they joyfully sang along and were uplifted by a mix of familiar songs.

At Alexander House Care Home, we deeply value the powerful effects of music. Beyond being a source of pleasure and contentment, music has the remarkable ability to relax the mind, energise the body, and even assist in managing pain.

Discover the Healing Power of Music:

  • Stress Reduction: Music not only reduces stress but also inspires residents to reminisce and communicate in social environments, thereby enhancing cognitive skills.
  • Positive Memories: For residents with dementia, music creates positive memories and instils a sense of identity, contributing to their overall wellbeing.

We believe in the transformative impact of music, not just as entertainment but as a therapeutic tool that enhances the quality of life for our residents. Organising these activities ensures a happy and healthy environment here at Alexander House Care Home.
