Respite Care in Exeter

Alexander House is a care home located on the outskirts of the historic city of Exeter. Situated in the quaint residential area of Pinhoe, Alexander House is a brand new purpose-built care home that provides high standards of Respite Care, as well as Dementia, Nursing, and Residential Care. Our home accommodates up to 67 residents in beautifully decorated bedrooms with en-suite wet rooms and provides exceptional standards of all-inclusive living.

What is Respite Care?

Respite Care is ideal for providing those who are caregivers a short break for themselves by moving the person that they care for into a care home for a brief amount of time. The role of a caregiver is often filled by a friend or family member and the demands of this role can sometimes present challenges and stresses that mean caregivers need a form of respite themselves. Respite Care allows caregivers to spend some time focusing on their own health and wellbeing whilst being assured that the person they care for is being well looked after.

Those who have recently spent time in hospital or are recovering from an illness or injury may also benefit from Respite Care. A care home can offer continued care and support to those who are in recovery, offering around-the-clock care and full use of facilities whilst they get back on their feet. This is particularly helpful to those who may not be able to look after themselves at home and offers peace of mind that there is always someone available to offer support when it is needed.

Respite Care at Alexander House

Our respite care starts from three weeks and can last up to several months. No matter how long your stay with us at Alexander House, you will receive an entirely person-centred service. Prior to moving into our home, we offer a pre-admission assessment to ensure that we can successfully meet your every need. We then provide all residents with a custom-made lifestyle and care plan which enables us to provide the best possible care and service that suits each and every one of our residents.

At Alexander House, we understand the difficulty in choosing whether to move into a care home, therefore we also invite prospective residents to also use our Respite Care as a short-term trial to see whether life at our care home works for them. Our home is a warm, comforting and supportive environment and we are delighted to be able to offer our Respite Care service as an essential to helping caregivers receive a well-deserved break, and members of the community the relaxation and recovery they need.
