Our First Tea Dance

We recently invited residents and the local community to join us at our care home in Exeter for our very first tea dance. It was a wonderful event, with staff, residents, and members of the local community gathering together to enjoy the live music.

Not only was the event excellent for our resident's mental and physical health, but it was also truly reminiscent as the old music evoked memories of starching petticoats with sugar to stiffen them.

The light activity had a great impact on the physical health of our residents, and the music, laughter, and socialising boosted residents moods, and brought them closer together with staff and members of the community.

With all the energy being used for dancing and laughing, it was only right that we provided everyone with delicious canapés, both sweet and savoury. Our kitchen team did a wonderful job as they went down a treat amongst all our guests.

One of our residents is a keen ballroom dancer and we hosted this event as he specifically requested that we organise one.

It has since come to light that we have two ballroom dancers and the event was such a huge success that we will be continuing to host them every 6 weeks.

At Alexander House Care Home, it is important to us that our activities programme consists of varied and inclusive activities and events that appeal to all interests of our residents. We care for the overall wellbeing of those living here at Alexander House, and we go to great lengths to ensure all their needs are taken care of through the high standards of care and lifestyle we offer.
