Watching Wimbledon

Two male residents in the back row armchairs. Three female residents in the front row green armchairs watching the tennis on the flatscreen TV.

The residents here at Alexander House Care Home in Pinhoe, Exter have been getting into the summer sport spirit and have been following the recent events at Wimbledon.

Making good use of our cinema, our residents have tuned in to many of the matches, with one resident in particular being very keen to make sure he doesn't miss out on watching Wimbledon.

One of our very own residents here at Alexander House is an ex-umpire who used to umpire on centre court, with his most notable player being Martina Navratilova. It has been great to celebrate Wimbledon with him in our presence telling us stories from his time working at the popular sporting event.

We couldn't watch the matches without having some Wimbledon-themed treats to go alongside it. Residents have been sitting back in the comfort of our cinema with a glass of Pimms and a skewer of chocolate-drizzled strawberries.

The Wimbledon fun hasn't stopped there, as residents have also been using the time in our recent arts and crafts sessions to create their very own tennis rackets. The residents had a lot of fun together making this and are very proud of the end result.

We look forward to watching the rest of Wimbledon together as a home and tuning into the final with more treats this coming weekend.
